The torque produced by a reciprocating combustion engine is not uniform. The amount of torque on the crankshaft is maximized during operation, zero at suction and exhaust, and negative at compression. In other words, the crankshaft is energized during compression. At the same time, force must be applied to the crankshaft from other cylinders so that there is no oscillation in it. Therefore, apart from method of increasing the cylinder, also flywheel is used to this purpose.
The anchor wheel is a relatively heavy rotating roller weight that is fastened to the end of the crankshaft by a number of bolts and nuts when inertia is not reached by the piston (suction-compression-discharge) inertia due to the weight of the anchor wheel rotates the crankshaft.
The smaller the number of cylinders, the more noticeable this action. Therefore, the anchor wheel adjusts the circumference of the crankshaft and prevents vibration and fluctuations of the crankshaft and makes its movement uniform.
There is a gear bar around the flywheel, which is responsible for engaging the starter gear when starting the engine.
